Three things get sold as gold
They photograph identically. They do not wear identically. Yours is the one on the right.
Gold plated
Thinner than a single human hair. For perspective, a sheet of printer paper is 100 microns thick. It wears off fast, and the FTC does not regulate how thick plating has to be, so quality varies wildly. Not used at Gold Club.
14k gold-filled
Far more real gold than plating, bonded to a strong core under heat and pressure so the gold stays. At least 5% gold by weight, and that minimum is FTC regulated. Tarnish resistant and well suited to sensitive skin. This is LustraFlex™ and our chains.
Solid 14k and 18k gold
Gold all the way through. Will not flake, peel or wear through, well suited to sensitive skin, water safe. Heirloom quality, made to pass down. This is Gold Club Reserve.
