FAQ
Everything you want to know before choosing your jewelry. Still have a question? Message us and a real person will answer.
Can I shower, swim and work out in it?
Yes. Gold Club Everyday was created for real life: workouts, showers, pool days and everything in between. Our gold-filled pieces are sweat-resistant, water-friendly and designed to be worn rather than constantly taken off.
After chlorine, saltwater or a particularly sweaty workout, we recommend a quick rinse and dry to keep your jewelry looking its best.
Is Gold Club jewelry real gold?
Yes, with an important distinction. Gold Club Everyday uses 14k gold-filled materials, meaning a substantial layer of real gold is permanently bonded to a core metal. It is not solid gold.
Gold Club Reserve is our solid-gold and fine-jewelry collection, including diamonds and precious gemstones.
What is 14k gold-filled?
14k gold-filled jewelry has a substantial layer of real 14k gold mechanically bonded to a core metal. Under U.S. jewelry guidelines, jewelry described as “gold-filled” must have a gold-alloy layer that accounts for at least 1/20 of the metal weight.
That distinction matters. Gold-filled isn't simply another name for gold plating. The construction gives it significantly more gold on the surface and makes it better suited to the kind of frequent wear we designed Gold Club Everyday for. No creative marketing language. If it isn't labeled gold-filled or solid gold, it's most likely gold plated.
Will it turn my skin green?
No. That happens when thin plating wears through and exposes the base metal underneath. Gold-filled bonds a thick layer of real 14k gold to the core under heat and pressure, so it resists wear and keeps your skin off the base metal. It is why gold-filled is considered hypoallergenic.
What is gold-plated jewelry?
Gold-plated jewelry has a thin layer of gold applied over another metal, thinner than a strand of human hair. It can look beautiful, but that surface layer will eventually disappear.
This is where we encourage customers to look past the marketing language. Terms like “gold finish,” “gold color,” “premium gold,” or simply “waterproof jewelry” don't tell you how much gold you're actually buying. Look for a clear material description such as solid gold or gold-filled.
We tell you exactly what our jewelry is because you should know what you're paying for.
Why 14k gold-filled instead of gold-plated?
14k gold-filled jewelry has a much thicker layer of real gold mechanically bonded to the underlying metal than gold plating. That makes it significantly more durable and better suited to frequent wear. The FTC regulates gold-filled, gold plating is not regulated. A product must contain a minimum of 5% gold to be labeled gold-filled. Gold Club Everyday jewelry is 7.5% gold-filled.
We chose 14k gold-filled for Everyday because it gives us the balance we wanted: the look and feel of gold, durability for an active lifestyle and a price that makes everyday stacking possible.
Why does the material matter so much?
The difference in manufacturing cost can be dramatic. We can produce a similar-looking bracelet using inexpensive gold plating for only a few dollars. It may photograph similarly on day one, but it is not the same product.
We choose 14k gold-filled materials for Gold Club Everyday because we're designing jewelry to be worn repeatedly, not simply to look good when it comes out of the box.
How long will it last?
14k gold-filled jewelry is made for long-term wear, not a few weekends. How long any piece lasts depends on how it is worn and cared for, but quality gold-filled jewelry can remain beautiful for years.
A little care goes a long way: rinse after chlorine or saltwater, avoid harsh chemicals and clean it occasionally with a jewelry-safe cleaner.
What's the difference between Gold Club Everyday and Reserve?
Everyday is our performance jewelry collection: 14k gold-filled pieces designed for workouts, travel, water and daily wear with a more attractive price than solid gold.
Reserve is our fine jewelry collection, featuring solid gold, diamonds and precious gemstones. Reserve includes made-to-order designs, special pieces and access to our Private Client Concierge.
Same Gold Club philosophy. Two different levels of jewelry. All designed and curated by founder, Shannon Hudson.
What makes Gold Club different?
We built Gold Club around one idea: beautiful jewelry should fit the way you actually live.
That means better materials, thoughtful construction, pieces designed for movement and straightforward education about what you're buying. Our Everyday collection gives you elevated jewelry you can live in. Gold Club Reserve takes that same philosophy into fine jewelry, diamonds and one-on-one concierge service.
No mystery materials. No creative marketing language. Just jewelry built to be worn all day everyday.
What is the Gold Club Private Client Concierge?
Private Client Concierge is our one-on-one fine jewelry service for clients who want something more personal.
We can help source diamonds and gemstones, create custom pieces, guide special purchases and help you find or design jewelry for milestones, gifts and everyday fine jewelry. You'll work directly with a real person throughout the process rather than navigating a traditional jewelry counter on your own. We also fully service your jewelry.
